Rescue Me ID: 17-10-19-00067Jax (male)

Pit Bull    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Our stunning Jax is a poster boy for the beauty, grace and magnificent spirit that is characteristic of the American Pit Bull Terrier. The reputation of this American breed is in tatters of late, due to widespread owner mishandling and malintent. Jax's adopters will have a unique opportunity to show the world the best APBT traits, the traits that our grandparents revered, when Bullies were the lovable mascots of our patriotic culture. Jax has a familiar story. He was acquired as a pup, from haphazard backyard breeders, and then hidden from urban housing project management. He was ousted from his home, once he grew into a high energy ... (Read More)adolecent dog who could no longer be concealed. His owner dumped him into a high kill Animal Control Facility, where he was shortlisted for euthanasia, despite stellar behavior evaluations. Jax is a coveted brindle coat APBT, and is at the prime of his young life at the age of one. He is a large dog at 55 pounds and has a muscular physique and a good deal of physical strength. He has a short, brown and black brindle pattern coat that requires minimal grooming. Jax has remained unaffected by the unwieldy rescue process, that can sway some nervous temperments, and has maintained his friendly, outgoing personality. Jax loves people, and has the right vibe for an excellent companion dog. He is extremely affectionate, and craves human contact. Jax would fit right into the active lifestyle of a single or couple, who can provide the exercise that Jax needs to remained calm and balanced. He would make an excellent running or hiking companion, and could adapt to any kind of pace. Owners of large, powerful breeds have a greater burden of responsibility to provide effective leadership, exercise, and obedience work to maintain control over their dogs. Jax had no manners or obedience training when he came to our rescue, and it was obvious that his owners did not manage his social development period very well. We have started Canine Good Citizenship and basic obedience training with Jax and he has performed beautifully. As a high energy Bully breed, Jax required vigorous daily workouts to keep his puppy yayas in check. Once Jax has a brisk walk or run, he can focus like a laser beam on his obedience work. He is extremely responsive to positive rewards techniques, and is both treat and praise motivated. If adopters continue Jax on his Canine Good Citizen path, he will become a much needed Ambassador of the Breed. Jax is in excellent health, and has been recently neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza). He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been microchipped and dewormed. If you are interested in Jax, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info. (Less)

Buster has been in our family for about a year. I have two small children and he's always been amazing but unfortunately my daughter was bit by him while he was sleeping and she went to pet him. With little kids in the house I can't take the chance of it happening again but was hoping to find someone that would take him and work with him. He really is a good boy.

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-18-00338Snookie (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our sweet Snookie is a striking sight to behold, and it is a miracle that she is alive. Snookie came to us from NYC ACC, where her owners dumped her because they could not solve the riddle of her mysterious skin condition. She had lost chunks of hair and was covered with open, bloody sores. Snookie was quickly relegated to the euthanisia, at the age of five, because often Shelters don't have the resources to diagnose and treat. Fortunately, Snookie was rerouted to our rescue for a second chance. After clearing up flea dermatitis and infection, and changing her diet to grain free, high quality protein kibble, we saw an immense improvement, ... (Read More)with some hair regrowth. Still, Snookie seemed to have ongoing inflammation in her ears and on some spots along her spine. So we did simple allergy testing and discovered a list of things, environmental and dietary, that do not agree with her. Now, with dietary modifications and an ongoing 1/2 pill daily, we have maintained Snookie's health, and have eliminated allergic response. This simple regimen has saved her life. We've given Snookie a second chance at life, and now it's her turn for a second chance at love. Snookie would be a trancendent 'feel good' choice for that extra special caretaker, who is moved by her story and willing to commit to a simple ongoing treatment plan. Snookie's limited ingredient food is easily available (and delivered for free) on Amazon, and her daily 1/2 pill costs less than a doggie vitamin. We have taken all the guesswork and expense out of her healthcare going forward. Gorgeous Snookie is a medium sized dog who weighs 55 pounds, and appears to be a mix of American Pitbull Terrier and Dalmatian. She has a short, manageable white coat with bold black patches, and some black speckling on her legs. Snookie is calm and laid-back for her breed mix, and is very gentle and friendly. She has moderate energy the requires at least one to two spirited leash walks daily. She would be the ideal walking companion. Snookie is extremely sociable and craves human touch and attention. She is extraordinarily loving and affectionate, and extremely patient with all kinds of touch. Despite her long-term skin discomfort, Snookie has never snapped or appeared fearful or intolerant of touch in any way. She is an absolute joy and would be the great love of her adopter's life. Snookie seems to have a calm temperament and can be shy at first, but warms up very quickly. She could easily join a multi-dog home, with other easy going dogs, who would not overpower her chill vibe. Snookie could interact well with older children, who are accustomed to respecting a dog's space. She could join either an adult home, or she could blend into an active family, if the lifestyle permits focus on her. We don't want to see Snookie become overlooked in a busy, hectic home. Snookie has great house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health, and at an ideal lean body weight. Snookie is spayed and has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), and canine flu. She has been boostered as needed. She has tested negative for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis. She has been dewormed. If you are interested in Snookie, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info. (Less)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Our stunning Kenzoe is a poster boy for the beauty, grace and magnificent spirit that is characteristic of the American Staffordshire Terrier. The reputation of this American breed is in tatters of late, due to widespread owner mishandling and malintent. Kenzoe's adopters will have a unique opportunity to show the world the best AmStaff traits, the traits that our grandparents revered, when Bully Breeds were the lovable mascots of our patriotic culture. Kenzoe has a familiar story. He had become a statistic: one more Staffie found stay in an abandoned building, trying to survive on the mean streets. His owner did not come to claim him, ... Kenzoe is an unusual tri-color Staffie and is at the prime of his young adult life, just three years old. Kenzoe has remained unaffected by the unwieldy rescue process, that can sway some nervous temperments, and has maintained his friendly, outgoing personality. Kenzoe loves people, and would be best suited to an active single or couple, with a lot of time to spend on his exercise and training needs. Kenzoe's ideal person would have some physical strength and stamina to keep up with him. He would make an excellent running or hiking companion. He is a strong, active boy! Kenzoe would thrive as an only dog in an adult home. His robust Terrier energy would overwhelm other dogs, cats and kids, but he would relish the focused attention of adults or teenagers, who can continue the obedience work that we have begun. Kenzoe has excelled in his basic obedience training, and he seems to enjoy the work. He is very treat motivated, and works well with all forms of positive reinforcement and leadership training techniques. Owners of large, powerful breeds have a greater burden of responsibility to provide effective leadership, exercise, and obedience work to maintain control over their dogs. Kenzoe had no obedience training when he came to our Rescue, and as a member of a high energy Bully breed, he requires vigorous daily workouts to keep his Terrier yayas in check. She goes to sleep in bed with my son or her crate which she also likes. She can be aggresive with other dogs. Will sometimes give chase to cats but did live with 2 cats for two years. I still watched closely. She is the smartest dog I have ever owned. I have to give her up due to divorce and finding a place to live. Heartbroken. PIease Read Before Adopting a Pit Bull in Connecticut
Pit Bull Dogs can make good pets in Connecticut if they match your IifestyIe. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a powerful dog with an undeserved reputation for inherent viciousness. A Pit Bull that receives attention, firm training, and thorough socialization makes a wonderful family guardian that is trustworthy with children. Pit Bulls need committed, experienced owners that exude leadership. Pit Bulls excel at high level obedience with proper training. Pit Bulls have been bred for dog fights, and unfortunately a dog that is abused, neglected, or whose instinctive aggression is encouraged, can become hostile and dangerous. Pit Bulls can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise.
