ллл%A4%A4ллллллллл ллл Message to all of my dog peeps л%A4л TOBY NEEDS HELP ASAP!!! His mom is a single hardworking mom who loves all of her kids both 2 and 4 legged.... TOBY hurt his leg... I'm not sure what exactly is wrong but the surgery to repair it is far to costly for mom to pay. His human sisters told me today they were thinking of putting him down because he's in pain.... I talked them into letting me post this on fb in the hopes that some one or some rescue may be able to step in and SAVE TOBY!!! He's a shepherd mix, sweet ... (Read More)disposition, well-behaved, house broken, loves to snuggle, gets along with other dogs and people. He's 5 years old in tact and healthy aside from his leg. The family is devastated but the girls finally realized giving him up to save his life is better than putting him down!! He has a dislocated knee - the vet said the surgery starts at $5k. They have tried every medication and caging him nothing is helping to alleviate the pain... лл PLEASE HELP TOBY лл share this post!! Hopefully a rescue can help!!! I own karmic inspirations in MIddlebury CT - we will gladly host a fundraiser to help with the costs (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-01-16-00049MacGyver (male)

Pit Bull    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

OMG! Those eyes are bewitching! At the age of four months, MacGyver was found as a stray in Brooklyn, New York. Animal Control Officers brought him to NYC ACC, but despite great behavior evaluations, MacGyver flunked out of the adoption program, and was nearly euthanized, because he couldn't walk on a leash. So, MacGyver came to our Rescue to learn the basics. It became obvious to us that whoever owned MacGyver played vigorous tug-of-war with him, as is common practice for puppy playtime with a lot of folks. Believe me, MacGyver is the poster boy for 'Don't play tug-of-war with your puppy!' Tug-of-war is never a good idea, and always brings ... (Read More)out an overly excitable response that can lead to aggression and resource guarding, but it's particularly not a good idea with Bully Breeds. As a strong Bully Breed pup, MacGyver was a real force to be reckoned with. He played good natured tug-of-war with the leash, like a maniac, and then would alligator roll making it impossible to walk him with any kind of collar-leash ensemble. After unsuccessfully battling MacGyver for leash dominance in the first few days, we swapped the collar and leash for a no-pull harness and progress has been simply remarkable. He is now leash trained, and has begun to master basic obedience commands. MacGyver has that dopey puppy personality that will tickle the fancy of an active family with older kids, who are all on the same page about raising an older puppy. MacGyver is now about five months old, and has that gangly look of young dog not yet in full command of his feet. McGyver already weighs 50 pounds, and would well reach 60 pounds as he reaches adolescence. He is a large, strong dog, and adopters must be prepared to continue his socialization and obedience work. The greatest challenge with MacGyver, is shepherding him through his puppy stage, and continuing him on a solid regimen of exercise and obedience. He is past the teething stage, and has not proven himself to be overly destructive, but folks who take on a young dog, must be prepared to puppy proof the premises and have realistic expectations of his limitations as far as house training and unsupervised time at home alone. MacGyver is extremely smart, and has begun to grasp the concepts of basic obedience training. He is a dog who could go the full route to Canine Good Citizenship certification, and become a well trained family member, who is welcomed everywhere. His temperament is outstanding: he is extremely friendly to everyone he meets. He has demonstrated no issues with other dogs. MacGyver has decent house manners for a youngster, and is mostly house trained and nicely crate trained. Adopters must expect to fine tune his potty routine, as he transitions to his new home. MacGyver is in excellent health, and has been neutered. He had one of the best Vet reactions of any dog we've had recently, as he cajoled his way through the poke and prod routine. He has been vaccinated for rabies and DA2PP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza, and coronavirus). He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed and microchipped. If you are interested in McGyver, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-18-00338Snookie (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our sweet Snookie is a striking sight to behold, and it is a miracle that she is alive. Snookie came to us from NYC ACC, where her owners dumped her because they could not solve the riddle of her mysterious skin condition. She had lost chunks of hair and was covered with open, bloody sores. Snookie was quickly relegated to the euthanisia, at the age of five, because often Shelters don't have the resources to diagnose and treat. Fortunately, Snookie was rerouted to our rescue for a second chance. After clearing up flea dermatitis and infection, and changing her diet to grain free, high quality protein kibble, we saw an immense improvement, ... (Read More)with some hair regrowth. Still, Snookie seemed to have ongoing inflammation in her ears and on some spots along her spine. So we did simple allergy testing and discovered a list of things, environmental and dietary, that do not agree with her. Now, with dietary modifications and an ongoing 1/2 pill daily, we have maintained Snookie's health, and have eliminated allergic response. This simple regimen has saved her life. We've given Snookie a second chance at life, and now it's her turn for a second chance at love. Snookie would be a trancendent 'feel good' choice for that extra special caretaker, who is moved by her story and willing to commit to a simple ongoing treatment plan. Snookie's limited ingredient food is easily available (and delivered for free) on Amazon, and her daily 1/2 pill costs less than a doggie vitamin. We have taken all the guesswork and expense out of her healthcare going forward. Gorgeous Snookie is a medium sized dog who weighs 55 pounds, and appears to be a mix of American Pitbull Terrier and Dalmatian. She has a short, manageable white coat with bold black patches, and some black speckling on her legs. Snookie is calm and laid-back for her breed mix, and is very gentle and friendly. She has moderate energy the requires at least one to two spirited leash walks daily. She would be the ideal walking companion. Snookie is extremely sociable and craves human touch and attention. She is extraordinarily loving and affectionate, and extremely patient with all kinds of touch. Despite her long-term skin discomfort, Snookie has never snapped or appeared fearful or intolerant of touch in any way. She is an absolute joy and would be the great love of her adopter's life. Snookie seems to have a calm temperament and can be shy at first, but warms up very quickly. She could easily join a multi-dog home, with other easy going dogs, who would not overpower her chill vibe. Snookie could interact well with older children, who are accustomed to respecting a dog's space. She could join either an adult home, or she could blend into an active family, if the lifestyle permits focus on her. We don't want to see Snookie become overlooked in a busy, hectic home. Snookie has great house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health, and at an ideal lean body weight. Snookie is spayed and has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), and canine flu. She has been boostered as needed. She has tested negative for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis. She has been dewormed. If you are interested in Snookie, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info. (Less)

Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Piggy is a very good dog. Follows commands nicely if not distracted. Sit, down, shake, spin. And at 9:30 or 10 at night when I say night, night piggy. She goes to sleep in bed with my son or her crate which she also likes. She can be aggresive with other dogs. Will sometimes give chase to cats but did live with 2 cats for two years. I still watched closely. She is the smartest dog I have ever owned. I have to give her up due to divorce and finding a place to live. Heartbroken. I moved to Connecticut just to keep her a bit longer. But it is no longer a option.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Pit Bull in Connecticut
Pit Bull Dogs can make good pets in Connecticut if they match your IifestyIe. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a powerful dog with an undeserved reputation for inherent viciousness. A Pit Bull that receives attention, firm training, and thorough socialization makes a wonderful family guardian that is trustworthy with children. Pit Bulls need committed, experienced owners that exude leadership. Pit Bulls excel at high level obedience with proper training. Pit Bulls have been bred for dog fights, and unfortunately a dog that is abused, neglected, or whose instinctive aggression is encouraged, can become hostile and dangerous. Pit Bulls can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise.

lnteresting Pit Bull Trivia Low-Cost Connecticut Spay & Neuter Clinics
Some people believe that Pit Bulls are identical to what Bulldogs were in the past. A disproportionate number of Pit Bulls are put down in major American cities each year. American Pit Bull Terriers are very similar, and some argue identical, to Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
