Meet Goofy, a super adorable, fun loving, 11 month old boy. Just like his Disney namesake, he is a very happy dog & a total sweetheart. Don't you love those eyes??? Goofy just arrived in the DC area. Notes from his adoption coordinator: 'I had the pleasure of spending a couple of hours with Goofy at the adoption event this weekend. What a super love bug! I fell completely in love with his big personality. He got into a bit of mischief - tried to steal toys off of the shelf at Felix & Oscar. I had a long talk with him about how shoplifting could land him back in jail - ha! We recommend that his future owner be experienced in owning ... (Read More)big dogs. He will need either a big yard or a large space to run in because he's a young guy with a lot of energy. He also enjoys trips to the dog park. Remember - a tired pup is a good pup! He pretty much likes all other dogs...of course there are dogs that don't like him. Same as the world of humans! He's very strong and he needs someone who can handle him - physically. We recommend that he be adopted by a family with older children - 12 or older. We have come to that conclusion based on the way he plays, his youth, and his strength. Like all young dogs, he will need a decent amount of structure, exercise and training. He will bark when someone new enters the home but he's fine as soon as he realizes they're a friend. Goofy is the kind of dog who will lay down on the floor (or sofa!) with you & let you love on him. He's a good dog and we want him (& his adopters!) to be set up for success. Proper training will take Goofy from 'good' dog to GREAT! Be sure to check out his video!!! I have more pictures & videos I can send to you directly. Such an AWESOME DOG!!!' (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Pit Bull in D.C.
Pit Bull Dogs can make good pets in D.C. if they match your IifestyIe. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a powerful dog with an undeserved reputation for inherent viciousness. A Pit Bull that receives attention, firm training, and thorough socialization makes a wonderful family guardian that is trustworthy with children. Pit Bulls need committed, experienced owners that exude leadership. Pit Bulls excel at high level obedience with proper training. Pit Bulls have been bred for dog fights, and unfortunately a dog that is abused, neglected, or whose instinctive aggression is encouraged, can become hostile and dangerous. Pit Bulls can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise.

lnteresting Pit Bull Trivia Low-Cost D.C. Spay & Neuter Clinics
Some people believe that Pit Bulls are identical to what Bulldogs were in the past. Unfortunately, Pit Bulls are often used for illegal dog fighting. American Pit Bull Terriers are very similar, and some argue identical, to Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
