Rescue Me ID: 17-02-27-00674Ivory (female)

Pit Bull    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Abused/Neglected,
 Fearful/Anxious

Ivory is approximately 18 months old. We rescued her from a home where the owner was a fire fighter and worked long hours. Before the fire fighter we believe she was made to fight. Ivory is an adorable and very loving dog. Once she became socialized, we found her to be as sweet as pie. She loves to cuddle and loves when you rub her tummy and massage her body. Ivory absolutely loves running around the backyard. We found her a good home but then the owner got a promotion and he would be gone for more than 12 hours a day. We found her another home, and the owner had to move and the new location would not accept dogs. We believe he just wanted ... (Read More)to breed her, which we explained to him not to breed her until she was at least 2 years old. He asked us to take her back after she was pregnant aND was unable to sell her off. We would love to keep her as a part of our family but her breed is banned here and we don't want the risk of her being put down. She has been through so much and deserves a great home, where she will not be neglected or mistreated, used to breedor fight, or at risk for being put down. She has a small anxiety of trucks - pick ups, trash trucks, large trucks. We have been working with her on this and she's getting better. She is house trained, with occasional accidents if not taken out in time. She can be left alone for about 5 hours before needing to go out, but she can be left to roam the house and will not destroy your house or belongings. She gets along well with adults and loves children. She gets along well with our Presa Canario, Khaos and the neighbor's American Bulldog, Kane. You will need to socialize her to some dogs. Please give this pretty girl a loving, caring, loyal, protective home and family, as she wI'll give you nothing less in return. I promise you. We take the risk everyday of being fined and her being put down because we love her so much. She deserves a good home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-19-00624Carl (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Carl is a sweet 9 year old pit mix that I adopted a bit over six months ago. She has been wonderful for me to have, but she has struggled with mild fear aggression. This behavior only began when she lived in a dorm with me, and subsides when I'm back in DC for breaks. I am confident that in a different environment, Carl would thrive.

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-07-00152Nino (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Nino is a very loving and submissive dog. He loves and craves lots of attention. He plays well with other animals. He needs a new home because where we currently live dos not allow him to be a dog. I think he deserves a home where he can run and play and interact more with other dogs and adults.

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-15-00227Emmy (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Emmy is a two-three year old female APBT (or possibly Staffordshire) mix who was rescued from a local kill shelter when her time was almost up. She is a very loving girl and wants nothing more than to be with someone 24-7. She simply cannot be close enough to her people. She weighs around 62 lbs. and is a good medium sized dog. Emmy is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. She did test Heartworm positive and is being treated with the slow kill method. Emmy loves car rides and walks well on leash. She has done well with other dogs and enjoyed meeting children though she does get ... (Read More)overly excited at times (and may jump) so it would be best if her home included only older children. She has been waiting for a few months and would love a family of her own! There will be an application, adoption fee, home check, and contract. Please email if you are interested in sweet Emmy! Feel free to visit our website at snooperheroes.org for more information. Serious inquiries only! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-15-00220Molly (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Molly (affectionately known as Molly Moo!) is a young female who is just all kinds of fun. She was rescued from a local kill shelter when her time was almost up. From the marks on her neck, it was obvious that she had spent her life on a chain. She has healed though, and the marks are no longer visible. While her breed is unknown, she looks to be a mix of some type of bully breed and possibly Boxer. Molly has average-high energy and would do best with an active owner or an owner with another dog in the household. She has done well with other dogs and seems to just want to play. While our initial assessment was that this girl was about 3 ... (Read More)years old, after bringing her into rescue, we think she is probably closer to one year old. She loves riding in the car, walks, playing ball, and pretty much everything. Molly weighs in at around 50 lbs. and has a shorter/thicker build. Molly would make a great addition to a family (though her energy may be too much for small children) or would be a wonderful best friend for a single person. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and ready for her forever home! Serious adopters only. There will be a home check, an adoption application, and an adoption contract. Feel free to check out our website at snooperherores.org for more information. Please email if you are interested in adopting Molly! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Pit Bull in D.C.
Pit Bull Dogs can make good pets in D.C. if they match your IifestyIe. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a powerful dog with an undeserved reputation for inherent viciousness. A Pit Bull that receives attention, firm training, and thorough socialization makes a wonderful family guardian that is trustworthy with children. Pit Bulls need committed, experienced owners that exude leadership. Pit Bulls excel at high level obedience with proper training. Pit Bulls have been bred for dog fights, and unfortunately a dog that is abused, neglected, or whose instinctive aggression is encouraged, can become hostile and dangerous. Pit Bulls can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise.
