Rescue Me ID: 17-06-23-00108Jugger (male)

Pit Bull    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This is a courtesy post for Jugger (top row) and Momma Peaches (middle row) - 2 dogs in the DC area that are in desperate need of help finding a foster/adopter/rescue. Their owner is in a tough situation and can no longer keep them or his other dog Zara (pictured cuddling/playing with the Jugger or Momma Peaches). Jugger and Momma Peaches are much more critical as they need to be rehomed together. Jugger is extremely bonded to Momma Peaches so if he were to lose her it would be very difficult for him. If you can help any of these dogs, expecially Jugger and Momma, please contact michaelhixon@gmail.com IMMEDIATELY. Thank you. Jugger is a ... (Read More)big, fun loving, goofy boy who loves to cuddle. Poor Jugger has abuse history (visible pellet in hip, attacked by weed eater according to previous owner). Perhaps because of this abuse he has had severe separation anxiety, was extremely distrustful of people BUT THEN CAME MOMMA PEACHES. With the help of Momma Peaches, Jugger has successfully been moved off meds for his separation anxiety, does better with strangers and is an all over happier dog and less nervous. Momma Peaches is a little shy when first meeting people. She may be nervous at first but can quickly be won over in about 5 minutes. She LOVES LOVES LOVES to play with other dogs and will provide any dog she is with plenty of exercise. Momma Peaches is very sweet, a kisser and a cuddler as well. They are looking for a quiet little love nest but if someone could take one, it would still mean the world to them. Zara is the other pup that need help. She loves to meet new people and dogs, is extremely loving and is a great cuddler! She gets very excited when first meeting people/dogs. Zara was found at around 8 months old having given birth and then dumped in Southern Maryland. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Pit Bull in D.C.
Pit Bull Dogs can make good pets in D.C. if they match your IifestyIe. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a powerful dog with an undeserved reputation for inherent viciousness. A Pit Bull that receives attention, firm training, and thorough socialization makes a wonderful family guardian that is trustworthy with children. Pit Bulls need committed, experienced owners that exude leadership. Pit Bulls excel at high level obedience with proper training. Pit Bulls have been bred for dog fights, and unfortunately a dog that is abused, neglected, or whose instinctive aggression is encouraged, can become hostile and dangerous. Pit Bulls can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise.

lnteresting Pit Bull Trivia Low-Cost D.C. Spay & Neuter Clinics
Some people believe that Pit Bulls are identical to what Bulldogs were in the past. Unfortunately, Pit Bulls are often used for illegal dog fighting. A disproportionate number of Pit Bulls are put down in major American cities each year. American Pit Bull Terriers are very similar, and some argue identical, to Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
