Rescue Me ID: 14-12-18-00326Lea (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Meridian, ID 'All I want for YOU...and TOYS, lots and lots of TOYS! Plush, tennis ball, ropes, kongs, nylabone, bully name it, I will love it.' Meet Momma Lea, she is a 2 year old Pitbull mix with lots of kisses to give her furever family! Lea is quite the character and loves to show off her toys when her family comes home. She races around, grabs a toy and then prances around to everyone, making sure that we've all had a chance to pet her and see what she brought over. Lea is a wonderful dog who loves people, is patient and adores kids, enjoys snuggles and giving kisses, and is an overall ... (Read More)joy to have in our home. She is house-trained and does fine when left in the house alone-however, if you take her along for a car ride, you will be her best friend! Lea has had some obedience training, but will need some additional leash training as she is very muscular and will pull. Lea know sit, lay down, stay & shake. When she wants something from you, she will hold her paw up...cutest thing ever! Lea gets along great with other dogs and has matched her energy level to her 11 year old foster companion-leaving him alone when he doesn't feel like playing. She doesn't like it when he has a toy since they should all be hers, but will not fight over it. She just stares at him until he gives it up and moves on. Lea does not like loud yelling or screaming, and will cower, thinking she did something wrong. She is also not a big fan of the cold, and has to be encouraged to go outside when it snows. She's a blanket stealing, warm bed hogging, 50 pound lap dog! Lea is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. If you can offer Lea a life with lots of love, affection and of course TOYS please complete an adoption application at: There is a $75 adoption fee for Lea Make sure to check out Momma Lea versus the blanket on Youtube: (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-12-15-00108Tux (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered

Tux is a big, bold, and beautiful fellow. He's happy and goofy and very, very social. Tux pays little attention to the other dogs and noise at the rescue. He isn't too much into toys either, but makes good eye contact and is an obvious people pup. Tux knows how to sit, stay, down, and come. He is really strong (and doesn't realize his own strength) so Tux needs a firm owner committed to helping him learn some manners. Tux is treat motivated and willing to work for them. It's reported he is house trained but he does have a tendency to 'mark' his territory. He waits patiently in his kennel to be walked and is ever so pleased to get outside. ... (Read More)Tux enjoys full body handling, especially the belly rub part and often just flips onto his back just in case you're interested in providing one. If you're looking for a holiday date who's all dressed up in his tuxedo and ready to go, please stop by the rescue to meet Tux. Our business hours are 11 am - 4 pm daily. (Less)

Pit Bull    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Due to divorce and having to move into a small apartment, I can no longer keep my baby boy. It breaks my heart to see him go but, he deserves to have a yard to run in and an owner with more time. I have had him for 3 years and raised him with my 2.5 year old daughter. He is loving, caring and very patient with children. He still has a little bit of pup left in him so, he does get very excited when new people or people he hasn't see for awhile, come over. He gets depressed when people leave. He loves tummy rubs, going for runs (or just being ran in general), showers (he likes to take them with me) and car rides in the front seat. He has only ... (Read More)ever been around small dogs (chihuahuas mostly) and is not socialized with large dogs or cats. I'm sure he would do great with a bit of training but, I have never given him the opportunity. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Pit Bull in Idaho
Pit Bull Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a powerful dog with an undeserved reputation for inherent viciousness. A Pit Bull that receives attention, firm training, and thorough socialization makes a wonderful family guardian that is trustworthy with children. Pit Bulls need committed, experienced owners that exude leadership. Pit Bulls excel at high level obedience with proper training. Pit Bulls have been bred for dog fights, and unfortunately a dog that is abused, neglected, or whose instinctive aggression is encouraged, can become hostile and dangerous. Pit Bulls can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise.

lnteresting Pit Bull Trivia Low-Cost Idaho Spay & Neuter Clinics
Some people believe that Pit Bulls are identical to what Bulldogs were in the past. Unfortunately, Pit Bulls are often used for illegal dog fighting. A disproportionate number of Pit Bulls are put down in major American cities each year. American Pit Bull Terriers are very similar, and some argue identical, to Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
