Rescue Me ID: 14-11-19-00594Hulk (male)
Hulk is a wonderful companion he loves to play outside and has the energy for the outdoors but is very mellow indoors. He would fit in best in a home without other pets and would do better with older children, 11 or older who can handle his energy level. Hulk would do best with a person or couple who has experience with dogs, and has knowledge about his breed. He loves to cuddle and take daily walks. He would love someone who has time to play with him daily and take him on walks. he is house broken and well mannered. He took puppy obedience classes as well! Contact Me if interested!

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-15-00116Farley (male)
Farley is looking for his forever home with someone who loves to go for long walks and hikes (and has the time and patience to help him reach his full potential at walking politely on a leash without pulling), someone who is consistent, patient, has lots of energy, and also someone who loves to cuddle and give affection! If you have these qualities, Farley has so much potential to be your extremely loyal and loving companion. We originally fostered Farley from Midwest Animal Rescue while we were living in Minneapolis. While we were fostering him, he had a health condition which cost the rescue organization vet bills and medication bills. After fostering him for over a year, the organization told us that they could no longer afford to foster him out, and that if we did not want to adopt him, he would have to be euthanized. We had grown to love Farley and could not let him be euthanized, although we had not intended to adopt a dog at the time. So Farley became officially ours in 2010. Since, then we have moved to Iowa City and we've had a daughter who is currently 17 months old. Farley no longer has a health issue - we later discovered that his issues had been due to a tick born illness, which we were able to eliminate with the correct medication. Farley is currently a healthy, approximately 7 year old male (Midwest Animal Rescue was unsure of his exact age). We believe that he is an american staffordshire terrier possibly mixed with a spaniel of some sort. We have never seen Farley be aggressive toward a human. In fact, it's been the opposite. Farley loves adult attention from anyone willing to pet him or give him a belly rub. He loves to cuddle and be near his human. He will excitedly greet you (or anyone coming into your home) at the door. We have one other dog in our home, and with the exception one unfortunate incident right after we adopted the second dog, our dogs have gotten along great since. Farley has never attacked another dog, and he has been around a few other family members dogs. He does, however, bark and growl aggressively at dogs through the window and also when we go on walks. Farley has quite a bit of nervous energy and seems to be an anxious guy. He does bark a lot through our window at passers by. He loves to leave the house for car rides, but will not sit down, even during a several hours long car ride. He stands the entire time and paces excitedly. We have found that lots of exercise and consistent training and discipline can help with Farley's high energy, barking, and anxious behaviors. Sadly, we have come to the conclusion that with a small child of our own now, we do not have the time to devote to Farley that he desperately needs and deserves. The other reason for our finding Farley a new home is that, although Farley has always adored constant adult attention, he sometimes seems a bit annoyed by our curious 17 month old, who loves to follow him around and 'bother' him. He has given her a couple of unhappy grunts and we would hate for this to become an issue. We think Farley would do best in a house with no small children, although older kids should be absolutely fine. We also think that Farley would do best in a home with no cats. (Less)

Animal ID: 23390459Betsy (female)
Betsy is an amazing girl! She was abandoned and tied to a light pole outside the Boone Area Humane Society facility. She loves to chase squirrels and enjoys playing with puppies. Unfortunately she is not ok with all dogs, but could be worked with to learn to coexist. Betsy does well on a leash, but can jump fences! Please help us find Betsy a loving home! This lady deserves it!

Pit Bull Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a powerful dog with an undeserved reputation for inherent viciousness. A Pit Bull that receives attention, firm training, and thorough socialization makes a wonderful family guardian that is trustworthy with children. Pit Bulls need committed, experienced owners that exude leadership. Pit Bulls excel at high level obedience with proper training. Pit Bulls have been bred for dog fights, and unfortunately a dog that is abused, neglected, or whose instinctive aggression is encouraged, can become hostile and dangerous. Pit Bulls can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise.
