This pit bull pup showed up at my house on Saturday, January 28, 2012. I have contacted the local humane society but no one has reported such a dog as missing. I have to assume that someone 'dumped' her. My guess is that she is about 8 months old. She is a real sweetie and loves attention. She gets along fine with the neighbors' dogs and cats. She has been friendly toward the adults she has met since being here but I haven't seen her around children. I think she would do fine with kids, given her sweet disposition. Little Man is a great boy. He loves balls and play time. My brother recently lost his job and was forced to move in with me. I can't allow Little Man to stay with me, I have two small children, two small dogs and a small home. I just don't have room for another dog. Buster belonged to my son but he got deployed to Iraq so he had to give him up. we found a home with two other pits he was fine for about 8 months all three of them got in a fight. We rescue 22 dogs from the McCracken Co Humane Society this week due to them euth with heart stick and not using any sedation. We are afraid they will euth him soon. Henry is a Staffordshire mix breed,aged 2-3 years. But make no mistake, he has the boundless energy of a puppy. this sweet boy is always up for a good tumble on the floor, or a nice long rub down. With twinkling ocher eyes and rust colored fur, he melts hearts every where he goes. He likes milk bones, soft pillows and plushies as well as long walks on the beach....or anywhere else you are willing to take him. with an avid sense of curiosity Henry is always eager to be outside investigating each new smell or object. unfortunately, being that i and my boyfriend are both attending school and working full time jobs, we feel that Henry is ... (Read More)not receiving the appropriate amount of exercise or stimulation inside our Apartment all day. what Henry needs is room to run, and a good family who will have the time to rub his ears or scratch his back the way he loves so much. he needs a family who can accommodate an energetic indoor dog ( he has flea allergies so he cannot be outside for extended periods of time), and give him the easy life he deserves. Henry has not had an easy life. When we found him at our community park he was without adequate food for so long he was 20 lbs. underweight, completely covered in fleas, and his fur was patchy and even completely gone in some places due to his allergies. after some apprehension we called him over for a closer look and were immediately struck by how friendly and carefree he seemed to be. even with eyes glazed in starvation his intelligence and yearning to be loved shone through. so after a few moments of debating whether or not to act we loaded him into the car- in which he was remarkably well behaved- and took him home after a good meal of kibbles and bits and two flea-baths in which he was not so well behaved he settled right into our little family. It was apparent to us that he had been neglected for some time, what we didn't know was to what extent our guy had suffered, his vet suspects that he was restrained by crudely cut wire that had rusted and corroded around his neck, tied so tightly that it began to chafe and eventually inbed in his skin. it is obvious that he was beaten not only by his reaction to loud noises/ dropped objects but by the bones that had been broken in his ribs - most likely he was repeatedly kicked or hit with a blunt object. As a result most if not all of his teeth are broken or chipped and he has a small ring of scar tissue around his neck. Henry will always bare the physical scars of his abuse but we must also take into account the abuse he suffered emotionally. it is amazing how open he is with people after what he has suffered. he is outgoing and playful and not uncomfortable around strangers in the slightest.He is however finicky about his food, if its his dogfood or even a milkbone he tends to be really laid back about it but if it happens to be some especially tasty morsel he tends to growl and take an aggressive stance, so its not a good idea to try to grab from him. Henry is a very good dog and deserves a good home. Our hope is that we can find a home worthy of Henry, because he is truly a special pet. Ringo is a very, very pretty and SUPER-friendly young Pitbull/?? mix. He is very trusting and loving and very calm for his breed. We found him roaming a parking lot trying to make friends with every human he saw. Because Jefferson County is particularly quick to euthanize Pitts, we took him in. We need to find a foster or permanent home for him very quickly, though. Jefferson County Louisville, KY MAP IT!

Skeet is a 6 year old brindle who is very sweet and loving to his family. He needs a good home where he can get plenty of exercise because he is high energy. He is an anxious boy who doesn't do well being left alone for long periods of time and doesn't immediately react well to strangers in his home. He does however behave very well on his leash. Skeet has always lived indoors and has been raised with another, smaller dog, a cat, and a wild little boy. Our family just can no longer give him the attention or the space that he deserves and he has been acting out as a result. Carter County Olive Hill, KY MAP IT!

I am a volunteer with Ashland Animal Rescue Fund and my parents found Charlie on thursday, a 2 yr. old pit bull who was found wandering in the neighborhood. He is beautiful...brindle coloring, with a white chest. He does well with adults and is a sweetheart (we are not sure about kids, bc we have not seen him around them, but it is very possible he is good with little ones too). He loves to play and is currently being boarded at Ashland Animal Clinic, but the person who needs to be contacted is listed. Charlie has had all his shots and we are willing to have him neutered if we can find him a home. This will have to be his last week being ... Would love to see this poor baby find a forever home before we even have to think about taking him to the pound, because we know sometimes their chances aren't good there. Please help us by taking him in (free of cost)! If not a home, would love for a rescue organization to take him!
