Animal ID: 16-08-28-00014Bella (female)

Pit Bull    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bella is the most loving and affectionate dog I've ever met. She loves kids, will play with even Teacup size dogs and not hurt them, and let's our cats literally walk on her. She is a very special dog. But she must have a place where she can run. We moved to town and have a fence but she just jumps over it. She is an expert at escaping, and we hate tieing dogs up, but she even finds a way to get off a tether. She is a 50lb tank but sweet and gentle. She will be free to a rescue group, any individual will need to pay a fee and have a home inspection and interview. At this point we are giving her a new home because she is being picked-up by ... (Read More)the police and it's very expensive. But we worry more about her being hit by a car or picked-up by the wrong person. Please help Bella. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-18-00657Brandi (female)

Pit Bull    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Brandi is a beautiful loving female American Pitbull. We rescued her nearly a year ago hoping that she would fit in with our other dogs. At first Brandi was ok, but over the last 4 months or so, it seems that Brandi cannot be living in a multi dog family. Although its not all the time, she has attacked our other two older dogs and caused wounds to them. Brandi would be fabulous in an only dog situation. She loves cuddles, loves to run with you and loves to be around her humans. Brandi cannot be crated at all as she has issues after being crated 24/7 by her previous owner. It breaks my heart to have to find her a new home, but I have to ... (Read More)protect my other dogs too. Do you have a space in your heart for this gorgeous girl? (Less)

I am looking for help for 2 female dogs I have come to know. I received a call last week from my sister who said she had a friend reach out to her about the living conditions of 2 dogs staying in the house she was familiar with. The owner had abandoned these ladies and the people left there had just been served eviction notice and were not interested in bringing them with them. These people are active drug users and were comfortable with putting dogs in garbage bags and tossing out moving car or over bridge. She had convinced them to wait 24 hours before doing so and called everyone she knew. My sister was one of those people and she called ... (Read More)me frantic for advice or help. I immediately got ahold of these people and told them I would come get them. With no plan I got in my car from Burnsville and drove 5 hours to Iowa City to these dogs. When I walked in the house I was overwhelmed at the dirt, the garbage and the oblivious signs of drug using. They had put these 2 beautiful dogs in a small closet with no food or water. The moment I opened the door they wagged their tails and were so excited to see me. They hopped in my car and we drove off with some vague information about them. Mom 5 used to breed pups that were taken away always immed. and never told what for. Daughter 2 used as well once for breeding pups. Both intact, no vaccines. Owner walked out with male dog a couple months ago never leaving any info on what to do with the girls just that he didn't care and wasn't coming back for them. Girls have always been together, and are currently in heat. The entire drive home I called anyone I ever knew trying to find help. I was able to find temp housing for them together. They spent the car ride licking and loving on each other but at the house of my coworker who took them in they growled at each other a couple times and I thought it would be best to separate them in case. I don't know if it is the heat hormones or the trauma of what they've been through. I am working with Jill from Pause from Paws trying desperately to find them fosters and have yet to do so. They are gentle, loving and quite chill. No training so walking them on a leash requires some strength and they def need to be spayed and get some training. Do you know or are you able to provide any help for them? Good with cats, not sure of their background so I haven't brought around other dogs, good with older children but I've never brought them around younger kids. I would totally take them but I live in a townhouse that bans their breed. I have reached out to all pit rescues here in MN and am not getting a lot of help or they are full. Thanks and God bless, Tara (Less)

She has not been around small children. If you're looking for a beautiful, smart, and loyal life long companion, Chelsea is definitely your girl!

aisy was a stray found in St Paul, and brought to the St Paul AHS . She was actually a dog known to the AHS community outreach person. Daisy had a microchip, but sadly was not reclaimed by her family. She was living with children, no cats, and she does seem very excited by the sight of small animals, but her attention can be redirected . She is particularly easy to walk when using a Gentle Leader, and is becoming a much calmer dog than when we first got her. She's very responsive to the training sessions at Happy Tails on Monday nights and is currently successful in her day care play groups. She's going to be the love of someone's life soon, ... PIease Read Before Adopting a Pit Bull in Minnesota
Pit Bull Dogs can make good pets in Minnesota if they match your IifestyIe. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a powerful dog with an undeserved reputation for inherent viciousness. A Pit Bull that receives attention, firm training, and thorough socialization makes a wonderful family guardian that is trustworthy with children. Pit Bulls need committed, experienced owners that exude leadership. Pit Bulls excel at high level obedience with proper training. Pit Bulls have been bred for dog fights, and unfortunately a dog that is abused, neglected, or whose instinctive aggression is encouraged, can become hostile and dangerous. Pit Bulls can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise.

lnteresting Pit Bull Trivia Low-Cost Minnesota Spay & Neuter Clinics
Some people believe that Pit Bulls are identical to what Bulldogs were in the past. Teddy Roosevelt owned Pit Bulls. A disproportionate number of Pit Bulls are put down in major American cities each year. American Pit Bull Terriers are very similar, and some argue identical, to Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
