He is excited on leash when first out, but settles pretty well after a short jog down the block and back. Hershey is a 15 month old 80-90lb. lab-pit bull mix. He is a high energy dog and usually only calms done when laying on the bed sleeping. He loves playing fetch and tud-a-war. Kayla was rescued from a high kill shelter 5 years ago...it appeared she was neglected/abused and was desperate for human contact gentleness and love. When we rescued her, it was only my husband and I (as well as our other male dog). Now, several years later... our home has become hectic with children and Kayla is becoming more nervous with the nonstop activity and busyness. We don't want to bring her to shelter...we all know what happens there. She is good with all people but I wouldn't suggest a home with kids running around. She is a WONDERFUL LOYAL companion and LOVES to snuggle at night when she sleeps. Shes awesome to walk on a leash...(she'll walk for days), no food aggression at all, EXCELLENT watch dog, very protective of her loved ones. Its evident she did not have good, if that any, structure/basic training prior to us rescuing her, so she could be kind of awkward at times...but not viscious. She adapts very easily, as long as she is able to be a calm enviorment. If you want to lay on the couch for 48 hours, her head will be on your lap, snoring, the entire 48 hours with you. When she meets new people, she'll bark as you approach (as with any dog) but thats all it is ...a bark. Right away she'll try to jump up on you to get you to pet her head and show her attention. Once you do that...shes a happy girl. She eats ANYTHING...but preferebly wet dog food. We feed her a pedigree can a night mixed with 1-2 cups of pedigree dry food. We also give her Milkbone cookies for a treats eward but she will eat anything. She has golden blonde hair, big pointy 'Chihuahua-like' ears and beautiful eyes. When we first rescued her, all the people involved with my rescue nick-named her the 'Angelina Jolie of dogs'....she even was the 'spokes model' of my very own non-profit Pit Bull Rescue organization that I co-founded many years back. With that being said, you could imagine how hard this is for me to find another home for her....but I have to do what is best for her well-being. After the rough life she had in the past, she deserves a better life. She knows basic commands like sit, paw, etc. Shes about 70 lbs, if that. I will weigh her to get her exact weight when I bring her to her Vets appointment to make sure she has an updated bill of health prior to her going into her new home. Besides treating her with kindness and love, the only request that I have is that we could maybe keep in touch with her new Mom or Dad once in a blue moon just to get updates on how she is since she is such a huge part of our family. Hey, check out my pix! I have the most unique look, don't I! I a€™m kind of small, with a beautiful short white coat, and big fun, pink ears! I like walking outside and am an active guy; I do need some training since I still have many puppy qualities . The nice volunteers at the shelter are helping me learn my leash manners, so if you could continue my training with a basic obedience course, that would really help me.
