Rescue Me ID: 12-01-24-00143Nixon (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Nixon was rescued by my son from a 'farm'. she was contained in a small kennel, and didn't even know how to eat when he got her. she has progressed by leaps and bounds, but does not like to be confined in a kennel or small room and left alone. I have another pitbull and they get along just fine, although Nixon likes to be the one getting the attention! She is very affectionate, loves to have her tummy rubbed and play outside. I have a dog door and a fenced yard and am gone all day at work, and also have a job at night and she is fine. The problem is that my fence is falling apart and she keeps getting out. I can't afford to spend a couple ... (Read More)thousand on a fence right now, so would like to find a loving home for Nixon. I think she would do great with a human that is around more than I am or has a fenced - in yard that she could be in again. (Less)

Pit Bull    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lexie is a 3 year old blue and white female American Pit Bull Terrier. She is a wonderful loving dog who loves her 'people' more than anything. She likes to cuddle on the couch and sleeps with her owners. Lexie has one eye that was removed due to it being damaged at birth. She has never had vision in that eye and it does not affect her in any way. Lexie needs to go to a home with no other pets or children. She did grow up since birth with two small dogs but did become aggressive today for the first time over food with one of the other animals in the home. Lexie would benefit from daily walks or a fenced in yard so she could run and play. She ... (Read More)loves to lounge around on the couch during the day, play with ropes, and chew on toys. She has never been destructive to property, is completely house trained, and will be your best friend in the world. Lexie will bark at the window at people going by the house and will bark while on a walk if she sees another dog. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Pit Bull in North Dakota
Pit Bull Dogs can make good pets in North Dakota if they match your IifestyIe. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a powerful dog with an undeserved reputation for inherent viciousness. A Pit Bull that receives attention, firm training, and thorough socialization makes a wonderful family guardian that is trustworthy with children. Pit Bulls need committed, experienced owners that exude leadership. Pit Bulls excel at high level obedience with proper training. Pit Bulls have been bred for dog fights, and unfortunately a dog that is abused, neglected, or whose instinctive aggression is encouraged, can become hostile and dangerous. Pit Bulls can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise.

Some people believe that Pit Bulls are identical to what Bulldogs were in the past. Teddy Roosevelt owned Pit Bulls. Unfortunately, Pit Bulls are often used for illegal dog fighting. American Pit Bull Terriers are very similar, and some argue identical, to Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
