Sweet little Carla is named after one of the women who helped save her. She's a pitbull breed mix and the result of neglect and abandonment. Carla and her brother were 'thrown out' is the story. They were immediately taken to the vet upon rescue and although we have been told their birthdate is April 2nd, the vet places them at about 6 months old as of 9/20/17. Carla was covered in feces and urine stains, had open punctures, and weighed only 20 lbs. Her bones were weak so she had been started on puppy food and nutritional supplements to improve her strength and body condition. She is pretty food possessive towards other animals and we hope ... (Read More)to work some of that out of her but she may always need her own private and safe place to eat if in a home with other dogs. Carla is now a healthy and bouncy girl. She is good with other medium to large dogs and was adopted and loved her canine brother. Unfortunately, she was returned even though we are clear about a dog's needs, and hers is possessiveness with food towards other dogs. She was doing great for months, but had one incident and came back to rescue. Carla is NOT good with cats or livestock and would do amazing as an only dog or in a home with other larger dogs. She wants to please and loves human affection. This girl deserves an amazing life. No pup's days should start this way. Even through it all her tail never stops wagging! If interested in meeting and potentially adopting, please read the adoption requirements and complete the adoption application located at Carla has been fully vetted to include spay, vaccinations, dewormings, microchip, and any other known medical needs provided for. A Pit Bull that receives attention, firm training, and thorough socialization makes a wonderful family guardian that is trustworthy with children. Pit Bulls need committed, experienced owners that exude leadership. Pit Bulls excel at high level obedience with proper training. Pit Bulls have been bred for dog fights, and unfortunately a dog that is abused, neglected, or whose instinctive aggression is encouraged, can become hostile and dangerous. Pit Bulls can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise.
