Animal ID: 208-16Jackson (male)

Pit Bull    Age: Young Adult

Hey there! I'm Jackson and although I'm just what they call a 'pocket pit' I've got a big personality! Sometimes I like to talk while I'm in my kennel but what I am trying to tell you is, 'Please don't overlook me,' and 'Please give me a treat!!' I like people and absolutely love attention! Getting me in and out of my kennel is a breeze, but I have to admit, I get excited and pull when I get to go for a walk; it's hard to stay calm when you only get to go for a walk maybe once a day! If someone would take the time to teach me, I know I could learn how to walk like a champ. Please come visit me as soon as you can! I would really love to get ... (Read More)out of here!!! Adoption fee is $105 which includes spay/neuter, combo and rabies shots, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm test and dog tags. (Although some of the dogs come to the pound spayed or neutered, most do not. Animal ID: 215-16Jett (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

I'm Jett, and as you can see, I am one handsome guy! I'm fairly young and quite the athlete...I mean, just look at me!!! What I love most is getting out of my tiny kennel and going for a long walk or even a run. Dogs like me weren't meant to spend so much time cooped up :( I love exploring but I will definitely follow your lead when it's time to stop. I consider myself to be very friendly but sometimes the chaos in the Muskingum County Dog Warden & Adoption Center is too much! If you will just give me a chance, I would love the opportunity to show you just how special I am! Available for adoption at: Muskingum County Dog Warden & Adoption ... Animal ID: 210-16Sabre (male)

Pit Bull    Age: Young Adult

I'm Sabre and I'm what you might call a 'typical pit.' I like to talk a lot while I'm in my kennel but once I'm out on a walk, I just want to sniff, sniff, sniff!!! Sometimes I pull on the leash but I am working on listening to commands. Want to know what I love....we have a kiddy pool at the Muskingum County Dog Warden & Adoption Center and it is one of my FAVORTITE things ever!!!!! I'm pretty sure if I found a forever home, I would love it even more than the pool though (3 Available for adoption at: Muskingum County Dog Warden & Adoption Center 1500 Newark Rd., Zanesville, Ohio 43701 740-453-0273 Please call ahead if you plan to visit. ... Animal ID: 213-16Ezra (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Blind

***Partially Blind*** My name Ezra and although that makes me sounds like an old man, the vet says I'm only a couple years old. I suppose I look a little rough because I've lived a bit of a rough life. I ended up at the Muskingum County Dog Warden and Adoption Center after being hit by a car. The vet thinks I suffered a concussion from that accident and that is why I can no longer see very well. Losing your sight is a terrible thing and sometimes I get scared because I don't know what is going on around me. If you come to visit me, just move slowly and let me smell you first. I love treats too, so bring some of those and I will know you are ... (Read More)a good person! I really want to get out of here and find a calm home where I can adjust to losing my eyesight. Animal ID: 85Harper (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Harper is a very shy girl, and needs a quiet home to relax and unwind in. She is tolerant of other dogs. She needs socialization and training. 31 lbs. 1 year 6 months. If you have questions or would like to meet the dog featured on this page, please call (216) 664-3476 to speak to an adoption representative at CITY DOGS Cleveland. Or email citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us About Our Shelter... CITY DOGS Cleveland is a program of Cleveland Animal Care & Control (CACC), located at 2690 W. 7th St. Cleveland, OH 44113. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the ... (Read More)City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be. Our Adoption Process... Here's a little about how things work: All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. A handful of dogs are only available for rescue pull, which can be for a variety of reasons. You can either stop in during our open hours to meet a dog, or set up a meet and greet with your dog, which allows us to get the dog out of his/her cage for some exercise before you arrive. To set up a meet and greet, please email us at citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us. About Our Dogs: All available dogs have gone through the ASPCA SAFER Assessment. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. Our dogs are strays and we cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog. We do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if they are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption. Health/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within a week or so of leaving the kennel. They do have their DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, are dewormed once and have a microchip. In addition, unfortunately many of the dogs do get kennel cough. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic (Less)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ziva is a sweet, loving and good-natured boxer/terrier mix. All white coat, bright eyes, always a wagging tail, loves to play ball and with other dogs, will need active family who will play/do daily exercise. We recommend a fenced in yard as Ziva is deaf. She is proficient in sign language and does excellent on commands. Sit, down, stay, heel, shake, etc. Smart and very healthy girl weighing around 50 pounds. She was to be put down as no one wanted her at the shelter or any rescue due to her being deaf. After being taught how to communicate thru easy sign language, she turned out to be a great dog. Discounted rate because she has no ... (Read More)interests. Not good with cats--likes to chase them and wants to play. Applications can be acquired by emailing Sgt.     Zeke is average energy for a 10 month old,has gone through puppy training at PetSmart. He is a cuddler, and sits, shakes,Lays down, gives high five, been house broken since 12 weeks old. Does have a protective issue with his crate. Nipped my wife, trainer came over and evaluated Zeke and determined he is not vicious. His issues can be corrected with training. However the trust has been broken and we feel he should go to another loving home. With additional training he could be an awesome dog !! That was the only issue even close to being mean. He's approximately 50lbs. and very loving.

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed

Hi! My name is Cora! I love going on walks and running around the yard. I am looking for a forever home with space to run and play. I love giant rope toys, Nylabones, and my Kong with treats in it! I hate going out in the rain, but I have no fear of thunderstorms. Also, although I'm 65 pounds of pure muscle, I sometimes think I'm a lapdog and will want to snuggle right up with you! I am, by far, the best cuddler around! That being said, I will be sad when you leave home, but I will have the most enthusiastic greeting for you when you get back! I would do best with someone that has time to give me a lot of attention, take me out to play and ... (Read More)train me around the house. I do well with kids and, with proper introductions, I can do well with other large dogs too. Smaller dogs have never been an issue for me. Look at my sweet eyes and try not to fall in love with me! Public hours are Monday through Saturday ... (Read More)from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be.

Animal ID: 74Beethoven (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Beethoven is another beefy favorite! He is on the calmer side, and likes to investigate new surroundings. He walks well on leash, and takes treat nicely. He is very easy to handle. Is tolerant of other dogs. 59 lbs; 2 years 6 months old. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and ... (Read More)Sunday 12-2pm.

It was pretty scary, but someone nice came and took my puppies and me somewhere safe where I could raise them. My foster mom said that all 7 got adopted and now it's MY turn! I am playfully, energetic, goofy, curious, affectionate and submissive. I give the best kisses and cuddles. I love to play with my foster brother and sisters. I'm also learning commands and tricks. I can sit, lay down and know the word no. I'm making progress on stay, come here, off and back up. I would love to be able to have a home to call mine and play all the time! I need someone who is willing to work with me to get better at listening and walking on leashes. Eventually, I think I would make a great running or hiking partner! It would be awesome if my new home had another dog friend to play with! Being at the Pound, in such a small kennel, day in and day out, is a real challenge for me and really stresses me out sometimes. Because I'm so stressed, most visitors just walk past me even though I try so hard to get their attention. This makes me so sad because all I want is for someone to take me for a walk so I can show them just how sweet I can really be! Would you be willing to give me a chance??? Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Don't let Bo's gruff appearance and kennel behavior fool you - once he is out of his cage he is a perfect gentleman! He is one of our best walkers and simply saunters along swaying back and forth on his bowed legs and stopping occasionally for some love. He is rather thin at the moment, but we are trying to fatten him up! Help us by visiting Bo today and giving him some treats...he would like nothing more than for you to rub his head so he can show you just how loving he actually is! Available for adoption at: Muskingum County Dog Warden & Adoption Center 1500 Newark Rd., Zanesville, Ohio 43701 740-453-0273 Please call ahead if you plan to ... (Read More)visit.     How's it going? I'm Toby and although I like to give a little bit of a 'stink eye' and a bark to new people, I'm really just a nice guy at heart....but don't tell anyone ;) Wait, no, tell everyone!!!! I'm only a couple years old and I'm a great dog to walk! All the volunteers love me and as much as I love them, I would really just like to find a family of my own! CITY DOGS Cleveland is a program of Cleveland Animal Care & Control (CACC), located at 2690 W. 7th St. Cleveland, OH 44113. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. My daughter's mom has had this dog since it was born, but she had to bring him to me due to her moving. Lately he has snapped at my other daughter, niece, and myself. Not sure why. I have an american bully female that is here that he gets along with great. I just cannot chance him actually biting any of us. I do not want to put him down. He is very loveable and protective. I honestly do not know where his aggression is coming from. He does not have food aggression and is house trained, but seems to have to go out a lot.

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is Dougie. I'm around 5 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Alliance area and I was picked up by the pound. I had terrible skin problems when I first came in. I also had very bad ear infections. My health conditions were clearly neglected by my former owners. I went to the vet tech school to be vetted, so they will check me out really good and make sure that my conditions are treated accordingly. I will return on Friday May 27th and will be available to go to a new family anytime after that day. I am a really sweet boy. I seem to have been someone's house dog. I am smart and pretty well ... (Read More)mannered. I get along well with the other dogs that I have been around since arriving here at the pound. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. I appear to be in good health. I have been given my Parvo/ Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOG, AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS AT OUR SHELTER AS URGENT. OUR KENNEL SPACE HERE AT THE POUND IS VERY LIMITED. THIS DOG COULD BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ANY TIME AFTER MAY 23, 2016. HERE AT THE COLUMBIANA COUNTY DOG POUND, WE TRY VERY HARD TO PLACE ALL OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS IN TO LOVING HOMES OR SEND THEM TO GREAT, APPROVED RESCUE GROUPS, HOWEVER, WE CAN ONLY KEEP OUR DOGS HERE AT THE POUND AS LONG AS SPACE ALLOWS. CITY DOGS Cleveland is a program of Cleveland Animal Care & Control (CACC), located at 2690 W. 7th St. Cleveland, OH 44113. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic. (Less)

Hi, we are Winslow and Ben. Due to the sudden death of our Daddy we need to find a new home, ASAP!! We are both pure bred Pit Bulls. Our daddy got us when we were babies and we have always been indoor dogs. So we need a home inside please. I'm Winslow, the tan and white dog. I was born on April 18, 2005. I just turned 11. I am a little timid at first when I meet you, but I promise I will warm up to you. Then I will want to kiss you every second I get a chance, I love kisses. I will also love to lay on your lap and have you hug and pet me. I am just misunderstood. I like to bark at people walking by and I think I scare them by barking too ... (Read More)loud. I'm just having fun!! I really do love people!! And I love my brother. I'm Ben, Winslow's brother. I'm the white dog. I was born on May 3, 2006. I turned 10 a few days ago. I didn't get to celebrate with my daddy this year and I miss him very much. I love love people. I want you to pet me as much as possible. I would love to lay on the floor and have you pet my belly. I will also want a kiss every now and then. Not like my brother, he will kiss you all day. I do have sore hips so I need to be careful. I take glucosamine for my hips. I just need a lot of love, especially now!! We love to run and play in the yard together. We have always had a fenced in yard. We have really not been put on a leash or chain. Not that we couldn't try. We have never been around small children and it probably wouldn't be a good idea to start now. PLEASE********We need a new home indoors. We MUST stay together. We have been through enough and need each other more than ever. We just need to be loved for the life we have left. We do not want to go to the pound so please come and get us. (Less)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Chloe suffers from masticatory muscle myositis which has caused the muscles in her skull to deteriorate. When she first arrived at the Muskingum County Dog Pound, she was unable to open her mouth enough to eat or drink. After being diagnosed and treated by a local veterinarian, she was immediately placed in foster care where she is THRIVING!!! Chloe is a true miracle and we are so excited to see that she has put on weight and looks absolutely beautiful. Her foster family reports that she is potty-trained, gets along well with dogs, tolerates cats, knows how to sit and shake, and does well on and off leash. They think that she is an amazing ... This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic. (Less)

Chloe is a beautiful, loving dog. She came from a rescue. She was our son's dog, but when he moved, he was not allowed to have her in his new apartment. We took Chloe in temporarily until we could find her a home. We currently have two dogs and one cat. Chloe absolutely does not like cats, and she and our cat have to be separated at all times. Chloe is loving and thinks that she is a lapdog. She loves to snuggle and play. Chloe needs a loving home with no cats and lots of love and attention. She loves to play and be outdoors on nice days.

Tucker is a 1 1/2 pit (mix) he is a very loving dog but not good with other animals unless you can work with him because he is very dominant. He has been around kids but I am unsure on how he would act around babies. Due to personal situations I feel like I can not give tucker the time and attention that he needs. He deserves to have a happy home instead of being alone for most of the day now. I hate to give him up but I am trying to do what is best for him. He is updated on all vaccinations. Also, I would prefer him to have a fenced in yard because of his energy and the fact that he is a runner he loves to run!

Pocket Pit! 45lbs. Bruno is a rescue from the Cleveland APL. He was in the shelter for 90days. I have had him for a year at this point. He has some bite scars on his face and was probably used as a bait dog. However, he loves other dogs and is in dog day-care daily. He has low energy inside and more energetic outside. He is walked several times a day and I run with him 3x a week. He needs to be in more of a quiet home with active people. Kids make him nervous ... and he is hand shy. Housebroken. If you take him and it's not a fit, he is welcome to come back within an agreed amount of time.

Evie is very smart and will come and sit with ease. She loves to play fetch and even brings the toy and drops it at your feet. She loves to run, but will not stray far from the house or her people, no matter how much freedom she is given. Her happy place is relaxing next to you as ... (Read More)close as possible. She is an expert snuggler! Evie would do best in a home without cats - not because she wants to hurt them, but because she does not take the hint from her foster-cat-sibling and could get scratched! They do have their DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, are dewormed once and have a microchip. In addition, unfortunately many of the dogs do get kennel cough. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic. (Less)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I unknowingly moved to a city that doesn't allow pit bull mixes (Warrensville Heights) We believe he is a pit/shar pei/lab mix. Spoke with a citycouncilman yesterday;I want to rehome him before they take him. He's an Emotional Support Dog, so I could engage in a fierce, lengthy battle with the city concerning federal ADA policies against breed specific laws with regard to support animals, but I think that wouldn't be good for either of us, so here I am. Kobe is loyal, playful and fun to be around. He's hilarious with squeaky toys, loves chest rubs and sleeps on his back like a person. He barks conversationally and does the double head cock ... (Read More)(first to one side, then to the other), when he's puzzled. Loves to chew on real bones, beef hooves and Kong Extreme toys. He is 18 months old, 47 lbs and past the shoe-chewing phase. He got along well with my black lab who died of leukemia last year and with the pitty next door. He needs to be walked daily, run outside and play 'footbottle'. He's a special dog so I am looking for a home where he'll be spoiled and loved to death like he is by us. (Less)

Animal ID: 14216Bob Cornfoot (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there, folks! My name is Bob Cornfoot. I'm around 2 years old and I weigh 85.6 lbs. I was found surrendered to the pound by my (new) owner because I didn't mix well with the other dogs they had. They had a really annoying puppy that just wouldn't leave me alone. I didn't want to bite the puppy, but he just wouldn't leave me be. They only had me for 2 days and wouldn't keep the puppy away from me. I was in a strange environment with strange dogs and strange people. I was not comfortable yet. I really tried to be a good boy! The people even said that I am potty trained and I was good with their kids. I am great with the other dogs that I ... (Read More)have been around here at the pound. I would be especially good with a dog that is calmer and quiet. I don't really like all of the commotion and crazy puppy shenanigans. If you currently have any other dogs, I need to meet them prior to adoption to make sure we get along well. I am a very big, very strong fellow. My family will need to be able to handle my strength. It is highly advised that my new family gets in touch with a trainer to help me with leash manners if they don't know how to work with me. I don't know any better and I will drag you all over the place. I am a really wonderful boy here at the pound. When it is nice outside, I love being left in the large fenced play area here. I love lounging around in the warm sunshine in the grass. Though I can be quite a vocal boy when I'm playing or waiting on a treat, I tend to be very quiet in the yard. I really enjoy it out there even when I'm left alone. I usually just go get a ball and roll around or lay around with it in my mouth. I really love the big, heavy duty rubber Kong ball here. It easily withstands my chewing and has become my favorite. Maybe my new family could get me some... Anyhow, that's kind of all I can tell you about myself. If you think I would be a good match for your family, please consider adopting me! I appear to be in good health. I have been given my Parvo/ Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer. I also tested negative for heartworm on 4/13/16 My pull fee for any approved rescue group has been fully sponsored by my friends Teresa and Karen!! Big sloppy dog kisses to my friends! PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOG, AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS AT OUR SHELTER AS URGENT. OUR KENNEL SPACE HERE AT THE POUND IS VERY LIMITED. THIS DOG COULD BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ANY TIME AFTER MARCH 30, 2016. MY ADOPTION FEE IS $120 CASH, WHICH COVERS MY NEUTER SURGERY (WHICH MUST BE DONE PRIOR TO ME LEAVING THE SHELTER), MY PARVO/DISTEMPER VACCINE, RABIES VACCINE, DEWORMING, MICROCHIP AND MY CURRENT OHIO DOG LICENSE WHICH WILL BE HONORED THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF OHIO. THE POUND IS OPEN MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM 8 AM- 4 PM AND SATURDAY FROM 9 AM- 12 PM. WE ARE CLOSED SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS. (Less)

Animal ID: 113-16Renner (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only.  Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. ******RESCUE ONLY******* Renner is a truly heartbreaking case of animal abuse that is found even in our small community. This poor boy was found in the Linden Ave. area one evening and due to the fact that our facility was closed, he was tied outside and left by himself. By a stroke of luck, one of our wardens was called out that night on a separate case and discovered Renner at 3:00am. As you can see in these photos, he has suffered a terrible trauma to his face. On his first day with us, his muzzle was so swollen and infected that he could not even eat the canned chicken our volunteers were attempting to hand feed him. After several vet ... (Read More)visits, Renner is on the mend although he will require additional care in the next few weeks to remove some damaged tissue inside his mouth. What caused all of this trauma to Renner? If you look closely, you can see a scar / line around his mouth where his muzzle had been taped or wired shut. This abuse of an animal is unacceptable. We ask our community to be vigilant if they witness this practice or any other abuse to animals in our community. If anyone has any additional information regarding Renner's specific case, please contact the Dog Warden's office at 740-453-0273. Renner is a large boy who is extremely strong but seems to have a sweet disposition. He has been trained to sit and lay down, but does not walk well on a leash. At this time, we do not know how he is with other dogs, cats, or children. If you love pits like we do and are experienced with handling such a large boy, please consider showing him what a loving home really means! Available for adoption at: Muskingum County Dog Pound 1500 Newark RD Zanesville, Ohio 43701 740-453-0273 Please call ahead if you plan to visit. Open M-F 11-5 and Saturday 11-1. His favorite toy appears to be plain old sticks. He is friendly and playful towards other dogs, and is curious about cats. He loves to snuggle and tends to cling when you leave him. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. Our Adoption Process... Here's a little about how things work: All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. A handful of dogs are only available for rescue pull, which can be for a variety of reasons.     Inara is a sweet pocket pittie. She's timid at first, but once you let her on the couch, there's no going back. She's smart and loves to give kisses. Interested in cats, but just to play. Good with big and small dogs. She is around a year old. Inara came to us from the shelter. She was a stray who sustained a terrible injury to her face. We don't know what happened but her face is healing nicely.

Let me introduce you to Coco! This sweet girl was only one day away from being euthanized when she was rescued from the shelter. (Read More)DOGS Cleveland. Heath/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within a week or so of leaving the kennel. They do have their DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, are dewormed once and have a microchip. In addition, unfortunately many of the dogs do get kennel cough. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic. (Less)
