Lady is a beautiful member of our family. My son brought her for his 3 year old daughter. Unfortunately we have to move and there is no yard where we are moving to for Lady. I have many people asking for her but I do not trust anyone. I would love for her to find a good home somewhere she can run and have fun. She loves to play. She has been raised in a house with other dogs but because she is not fixed we put her in a cage. She has the run of the garage. She is great at escaping by jumping fences so we have to watch her outside. She and my granddaughter play well together. I don't know how compatible she is with cats because we do have one ... Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I have a 3 year old female red-pitbull/terrier mix. She has been fixed and has all her shots (will provide shot record) she is micro-chipped and that can be changed to your name. She is very loving and enjoys taking walks, riding in car and just hanging out. She typically sleeps with one of my children at night, and we only use the crate when we are gone for long times. She is house broken and crate trained though. She doesn't like lots of loud noises, so she wouldn't be good around small children. She would be best for a couple or single person who wants a companion. I'm not sure how she would do with other dogs, as she doesn't chase ... (Read More)any on walks, but hasn't been around any very often either. I adopted her from the kennel and although have enjoyed her, I am finding that with my work schedule and my teenagers working more now, we are not home as often to give her the attention she needs. I am only asking $50 re-homing fee to basically help offset the new crate I just bought for her. I want her to go to a good home where she will be loved and appreciated. She is very gentle and sleeps a lot (lol). She is very protective and barks if there is loud noises or she sees people arguing (yelling). She will come with her shot records (including updated rabies she just got in January), collars, leash, food bowl, water bowl and crate. Serious inquiries only, please... (Less)

She is just a pup so she would love to have a family that would walk with her or throw ball with her. She does great in the car, she just lays down and doesn't make a peep.     Hello I'm Reaching out to you hoping you may be able to help me. My daughters fianc̩e, in Cincinnati OH, just died unexpectedly at age 25 due to illness. He left behind a gorgeous one year old Pitbull. My daughter is in late term pregnancy and can't care for the dog. The dog's name is Blue. Blue is 100% house broken, neutered and all shots up to date. Also, he is the middle of attending a three weeks long live in professional dog training school. Is there a possibility that your organization would be able to help finding foster home for Blue. Our only other choice is to give Blue to local SPCA shelter where likely he would be put down. ... (Read More)My daughter already devastated losing her fianc̩ at such an early age. Losing her loved pet would devastate her. I'm attaching two wonderful photos of Blue. Sincerely, Endre Pekarik 513-403-4197 Skype endre_pekarik (Less)

Or email citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us About Our Shelter... CITY DOGS Cleveland is a program of Cleveland Animal Care & Control (CACC), located at 2690 W. 7th St. Cleveland, OH 44113. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be. Our Adoption Process... Here's a little about how things work: All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. A handful of dogs are only available for rescue pull, which can be for a variety of reasons. You can either stop in during our open hours to meet a dog, or set up a meet and greet with your dog, which allows us to get the dog out of his/her cage for some exercise before you arrive. To set up a meet and greet, please email us at citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us. About Our Dogs: All available dogs have gone through the ASPCA SAFER Assessment. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. Our dogs are strays and we cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog. We do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if they are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption. Heath/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within a week or so of leaving the kennel. They do have their DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, are dewormed once and have a microchip. In addition, unfortunately many of the dogs do get kennel cough. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic. (Less)

(Less)

(Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-01-27-00431Sierra (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Adoption Pending. SIERRA was a stray wandering in the countryside in rural NW TN when she came to the home of someone who contacted the rescue for help. At only 35 pounds with ribs showing, it was obvious she had been on her own for a while. She is now safe in a foster home where she is getting good nutrition, so we expect she will regain weight. Sierra is a brown and white Pit mix female who is estimated to be around one year old. She is very sweet and likes to crawl up into your lap and whimper a bit to see if she can get any more food or extra treats. She tested negative for heartworm and has been vaccinated and vetted. She will ... (Read More)also be spayed and microchipped prior to adoption. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Sierra if it means she will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help our 501(c)3 non-profit rescue to cover the cost of the veterinary care she has received and the microchip. (Less)

OLLIE is lucky to be alive. This sweet, friendly white Pit mix female was locked in a shed and left to die. She was in there for nearly a week with no food or fresh water. Thankfully, a neighbor realized she was there and contacted the authorities. She is now safe in a foster home where she is receiving good nutrition and TLC. She weighed 43 pounds when first examined by the vet and her ribs were showing at that weight. We expect she will now gain weight. She was very scared when first rescued and just wanted to get down to the ground. It was as though she had lost her spirit and trust in people. She needs a family who will help her ... She tested negative for heartworm and has been vaccinated and vetted. She will also be spayed and microchipped prior to adoption. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Ollie if it means she will have a good forever home.     Hi! My name is Lesnar. I'm a big boy, who's 2 years and 8 months old. In fact, my birthday is 4/16/2013. I was taken to the vet to be euthanized, due to some skin allergies that were going on. The vet didn't want to see that happened so they talked the owner into getting me to the nice people at Adopt a Pit. Since then they have been helping treat my skin and I feel SO much better. I'm very sweet, love everyone and I even sit and shake on command. If you'd like to love me forever, please apply at www.adoptapitrescue.org by filling out an application. Lesnar has been vaccinated, neutered and microchipped! Lesnar's adoption fee is $175

(Less)

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)

Saving him literally off the street as a wounded and abused dog, we've had Brutus for just over 4 years now. He is a sweetheart toward us and is eager to please. He responds well to training. He is crate trained and is used to relaxing in his crate when we are not home. Even though he was starving when we found him, he was able to learn to sit and wait for an 'ok' to eat the food placed before him. But, he has his issues, stemming, we believe, from the mistreatment he received before we found him: When he is excited he may jump up on people. This is a problem because he is big and strong now. He becomes anxious when new people or animals ... (Read More)are introduced to him, at times the anxiety has led to aggressive behaviors like growling, barking, and snapping at others. Unfortunately, recently, Brutus accidentally got out of our yard. This led to a surprise encounter with a neighbor. Both Brutus and the neighbor were scared and Brutus snapped at the neighbor, biting the neighbor on the hand. The bite did break the skin but fortunately did not result in a need for further medical treatment. We live a very active lifestyle, and are away from home for long stretches of time. When we are home we have frequent visitors of all ages and sizes. Because Brutus can get overly excited around new people, we have chosen to crate him when we have guests, meaning Brutus is crated more often. We believe he would do better in a home where he could get more exercise, fewer visitors, and humans that would love a big dog that loves to cuddle up in your lap like a puppy, and who will do nearly anything for a treat. (Less)

Max has been posted on here before but due to my own selfishness I removed him. Max and our other male dog have never gotten along but we have gotten by. They have been in several fights and we fear the worse will happen. Max started getting a muzzle on when him and the other dog were together but even with that a couple of days a go a fight broke out. It was terrifying. I know now that I have to say goodbye for his health and safety. Picking which to get rid of was very difficult as they are both family to us. (Read More)along great with our female dog but he has never been around any other dogs so I am not sure how he would react. We would like him to go to a home where there are no other animals for this reason. He is great with our kids. We have three children and he thinks he is one of them. We have a very large fenced in yard and he loves to run around. He loves chewing on bones. He is fully potty trained and cage trained. I am very nervous for him to leave and it's been a very emotional couple of days. He is a mommys boy! He can do basic commands. He is spoiled here and I want a home for him where he is allowed on the couch and on the bed because he is used to that. He eats purina dog chow. He doesn't eat many treats because they tend to give him diarhea. We will not let him go to anyone the day they meet him. We need to be sure he is comfortable because it will be very scary for him as well and we need to make it as smooth as possible. He is a very loyal dog and where I go, he goes. He is a little needy but very well behaved. He would need to be caged because he does chew or rip stuff up occasionally if left alone. Right now we have him And the other dog totally seperated so we can keep them both safe. He will need to be re homed sooner then later though. Please only contact me if very interested. We don't want to stress him out with tons of people meeting him. Please call with any questions about our sweet max! 330-807-1345 (Less)

My name is Pete and I came to the shelter after being hit by a car and sustaining a broken leg. I was within hours of being euthanized before Adopt A Pit rescued me. Now my leg is almost completely healed and I am ready to start my new life! I am housebroken and crate trained. I know sit and shake and will even go to my crate when my foster mom tells me to. I have recently discovered the joys of chewing on my bone and am learning to 'give' it and to be 'gentle' when taking it back. I currently live with a fur brother and sister. I love to run, play with toys, and go on walks. My foster mom says my leash manners are improving daily. Not to toot my own horn, but I am fully housebroken and rarely feel the need to bark. I will be ready to find my fur-ever home when my pup is weened (he is 5 weeks old right now) and I am spayed. If you want to add a beautiful, athletic, joyful dog to your family, look no further. Just ask for 'Stella'! PLEASE SUBMIT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION AT ... (Read More)WWW.MAGGIESMISSIONRESCUE.ORG - FEE $200 (Less)

(Read More)(216) 664-3476 to speak to an adoption representative at CITY DOGS Cleveland. (Less)

I volunteer at a local shelter and trying to help mickey find his forever; he is a good boy,one year old, loves to play with other dogs, fun loving; he is high energy; mickey should be with someone who will be alpha, he can get 'mouthy', so needs discipline there, but also is loving, gives kisses and wants to be loved on; he needs lots of exercise; he can 'sit' and 'shake'; Mickey would do best in a home with another playful big dog, with an owner who is firm but loving. On Mickeys kennel sheet it says 'I love to party! I'm all about having fun', that sums him up! Contact Lori for more info 513-477-9026

6-8 mt old pit bull puppy. Was found about a month ago & no one has come forward. Mostly house broke, high energy, crate trained. Needs attention to training. My dog isn't fond of her, so she's kenneled most of the time. Needs kids or other dogs to play with. Don't want to take her to the pound! Needs a home ASAP, don't feel right keeping her kenneled. Walks great on a leash, learning her name. She does have her rabies shot, but nothing else.

Can have spayed and vaccines caught up. Have a baby on the way and two other dogs. Kind of skittish to new people at first. Would be better if she was only dog, gets along with my other female (her mother) but not my male. But has been ok around some males. She is about 25 pounds.

He is a lover boy and is very affectionate. He loves to sit in your lap and give kisses. It seems that Simon had some sort of head injury at one time, but he doesn't have any medical issues. He knows some commands and listens very well. He deserves a loving and happy forever home! Simon has a little bit of some food resource guarding which will hopefully subside, but being fed alone or being the only dog would be good for him too.

Rescue Me ID: 15-12-03-00115Josie (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed

Hi I'm Josie! I am about 8 months old & I came from the shelter. When I got to the shelter I was covered in ringworm, had horrible intestinal worms, the longest, grossest nails ever and I was super thin. Even though the shelter was kinda scary and I was really nervous, it was nice to have a warm, soft bed with lots of food. I was so happy to get a bath. I felt so much better! The rescue found me and took me home! I love my foster home! I am so happy to play with the other dogs, I love car rides and I love snuggling on the couch. I'm pretty little so I am the perfect fit for your lap!! My skin feels so much better now and my hair is all ... (Read More)growing back in. You can't see my ribs anymore either! Now that I'm all better I need to find my forever family! Here are my requirements: Soft couch, lots of treats, lots of snuggles, car rides and maybe even a two legged or four legged brother or sister!! If you meet my requirements, please go to adoptapitrescue.org to fill out an application to adopt me today! Josie has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped! Josie's adoption fee is $200 (Less)

Stinky needs a forever home. He needs attention with lots of love. Was a bait dog but was rescued. He does not allow other dogs around while eating his food. (Less)

NO KIDS UNDER 6 YRS OLD. This big boy is very happy and playful. He loves to be with people, and to be scratched.
