I am looking to re-home my 7yo Pitbull/ American Bulldog mix. We rescued Murphy a little over 5 years ago from a high-kill shelter in Providence RI. He as been a wonderful asset to our home where he has lived with two other small dogs and our daughter, who is now 2 years old. Murphy is very kind-hearted, loyal, and funny. He does have anxiety related to separation and loud noises such as lightning or fireworks. When he becomes anxious he has a tendency to become destructive to his environment. We treat his anxiety with Prosac. He will do best in a home where he is not confined, has lots of area to run, with owners who are home regularly ... (Read More)and able to exercise him daily. Murphy is up-to-date on all his shots, his last annual checkup was 5/4/15 and he is in good health. REQUIREMENTS (No Exceptions): I will charge an adoption fee that will be donated to the Rescue Me site. I also require that all interested adopters fill out an application and agree to an interview where I can meet you, and you can meet Murphy. If you cannot fulfill these requirements please refrain from responding to this post. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Pit Bull in Rhode Island
Pit Bull Dogs can make good pets in Rhode Island if they match your IifestyIe. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a powerful dog with an undeserved reputation for inherent viciousness. A Pit Bull that receives attention, firm training, and thorough socialization makes a wonderful family guardian that is trustworthy with children. Pit Bulls need committed, experienced owners that exude leadership. Pit Bulls excel at high level obedience with proper training. Pit Bulls have been bred for dog fights, and unfortunately a dog that is abused, neglected, or whose instinctive aggression is encouraged, can become hostile and dangerous. Pit Bulls can adapt to apartment life with enough exercise.

lnteresting Pit Bull Trivia Low-Cost Rhode Island Spay & Neuter Clinics
Some people believe that Pit Bulls are identical to what Bulldogs were in the past. Unfortunately, Pit Bulls are often used for illegal dog fighting. A disproportionate number of Pit Bulls are put down in major American cities each year. American Pit Bull Terriers are very similar, and some argue identical, to Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
