he was found as a stray playing at an elementry school with kids, we decided to take him in but he doesn't seem to like us he actually completely ignores us. we were able to find his old neighborhood but neighbors said the guy that owned him moved out months ago. The only thing he responds to is 'dog' he is very skinny and doesn't like to eat much, i treated him for worms but it needs to be done again in 2 weeks. She looks like a lab from the side but a pit bull in the the front, as well as having the boxy body. She is great with kids and loves her family. Rex is the last pup left from a Stop the Cycle litter; Forget Me Not spayed the mother dog, and has found his littermates terrific new homes. Rex was almost adopted, but we noticed he was having some difficulty urinating; a trip to the vet diagnosed urinary crystals, which we are treating with a urine acidifier. The condition should clear up after that, but if not, it is usually treatable by either diet or continuing the urine acidifier. He was born 9/11/11; mom is a pit bull, and the litter appears to have had a few different dads; we see possible border collie in Rex, with the longer, fluffier white fur on his chest and his border ... (Read More)collie-like markings. Rex is an affectionate, happy pup; he plays hard, then naps hard (ha). He is incredibly cute, but please do your breed research before applying to adopt him; because he is half pit bull, there are many areas where a pup like Rex will be banned, no matter how cute, cuddly, and well-behaved he is. Make sure your town, county, housing association, and homeowners insurance will allow a pit bull mix puppy. Rex should make a fabulous family dog. He is fostering in a home with big dogs, a cat, and even some chickens, and we think he will do well adapting to pretty much any other pets in the home. Now that he is the only puppy, his foster mom has integrated him into the home, and he has learned to sleep in a crate overnight. He has also learned how to go up and down the stairs, and he is VERY proud of himself. Puppies require a lot of human interaction, and all puppies will benefit from obedience training and full immersion in their human household. These pups' ideal homes will have someone who can exercise them with a couple of energetic walks each day, plus commitment to training them how to be the best dogs they can be. They hope to have very few hours per day when they will be without the companionship of a human or other pet. They will reward their forever owners with boundless love and loyalty! I need to start this by saying I am a deployed Soldier in need of help so I'm emailing you to try and find some help/information/contacts for my current situation. A few years ago I rescued a wonderful pit mix, Lacy, from a shelter where I was stationed in Hawaii. Since then I've done basic and advanced training with her and she is a fantastic dog. I was deployed to Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010 for a year and she stayed with my older sister. After I returned from Afghanistan in 2010 we moved to Washington State where I did more training with her and she had no issues. My younger sister moved into my house to care for my son and property while I'm gone and I think my departure along with so many changes has left her confused and she is acting out aggressively. My sister has stated she can no longer keep her and I understand but I am absolutely heartbroken thinking about losing the dog I consider to be my canine soul mate due to my being gone again - I see this as my fault as the owner yet she's the one being punished as she'll have to go to a shelter soon if I don't get help with my situation. So I'm trying to find a temporary (8-9 month) shelter or home for her until I return and can take her back and get her into some more training. Any person that's ever met her knows how sweet she is and this is the first time she has acted aggressively - I think because when I'm home I'm the Alpha and there are no issues but now she is confused and trying to be the dominant one in the house. Although not blonde, she certainly is a bombshell! Farrah is about 2-3 years old and weighs 75 pounds. She is a very striking dog. Farrah was rescued from a rural shelter; she'd been found as a stray. Farrah has met one cat and she ignored that cat. Farrah's true love is her people, although she is just an absolute doll with everyone she meets. This dog so very obviously lives for her humans. She loves to be petted and to ... (Read More)put her head in your lap (or her whole body if she can figure out how to squeeze in on there!). She is quick to lie down on her back for belly rubs and just loves giving kisses! But, she is also content lying in her sunbeam, snoring softly while you work or watch TV. Farrah has no problem with folks taking toys, bones, rawhides, or food from her. She is very tolerant of humans fussing over her -- she was great when I cleaned her ears, scraped a bit of plaque from her teeth, and clipped her nails. I've woken her up from a dead sleep and she just wags her tail. She loves meeting new people. Farrah is an incredibly quick learner. She picks up commands as though she understands English. Within the first day of being here, she'd already learned sit, down, shake, beg, touch, and drop it. She knows her name and comes when she is called. Farrah is expected to sit before her meals, before being leashed up for walks, and before heading out the door to smell exciting things. She is very responsive to commands and extremely food motivated. We are making progress on her loose leash walking as well. Farrah is crate trained and housebroken. Farrah has never barked since she's been here. She is a very quiet dog. She loves to play fetch with pretty much any toy, enjoys playing tug (she will 'drop it' on command reliably when asked, though), and likes to play wrestle (she will settle down right away when asked to 'sit' when you're done playing). When playtime is over, however, she settles right down and will snooze for hours in the sun. Farrah does not care for other dogs we've introduced her to. When around other dogs, she will do her commands and has pretty good focus, but I can tell that her stress level is up -- she just didn't feel comfortable around these dogs. When dogs approached her 'space' (her crate for example) she whined and fidgeted. We are working on her perceptions of other dogs, and I wholeheartedly believe she will make quick progress, but her new owner will need to continue working with her. Because of this, we will only place Farrah in a home with an owner who has pit bull or other powerful breed experience. Also because of this, we will carefully be considering her placement with any other dogs, and a dog-dog meeting will be necessary, with placements considered on an individual basis. But, besides this, Farrah is a doll. I just love spending time with her as she is so sweet and eager to please. Sister, is the sweetest girl. She is part boxer/lab and pitt. She is not aggressive. In fact, sometimes I think she thinks she is a small dog because our mix-breed 'weiner' dog bosses her around all the time! Sister is playful. She wrestles with our 'weiner' dog, and loves people to throw balls for her and go for walks/runs. She is house trained, and will come and tell you when she needs to go out. She loves to go outdoors to play, but can't handle staying too long in the cold because she doesn't have any under-coat. She wore a sweater last winter even at night sleeping in the house. She lays down on her side, rolls on her back and loves to have her tummy scratched. She needs to be placed with a family that has room for her to run and play outside. Hopefully, with someone home at least part of the day--being caged all day isn't very fun. She has been around elementary-age kids, but prefers young adults to take her for walks as she is very strong and my grandson has a heck of a time holding her back. She has all her shots, incuding rabies vaccine, and has been wormed (right after she was spayed about a month ago). Sister (Sissy)is a big baby and will gently rise up and put her arms around you for hugs. She is sensitive and smart and responds to human commands well. She needs her own place to be when she is left alone--with a comfort blanket and a nice bone and treat. When she gets excited she still will get up on the couch to see out the window, but we're working on it. She hasn't faired well going in the car. I think the first time she got car-sick and ever since then she has not wanted to go in the car again. My friend says she will out-grow that. She uses her nose to move things--including my old Tom cat (that's after she has made his head wet by licking him). All-in-all, Sister is a wonderful dog, and if I was younger and had a bigger place and didn't have to work all week I would keep her forever. But, it's not fair for her here, and I want her to have a long and happy life with a wonderful family who can care for her properly. I would like to visit Sister after she is adopted to make sure she is still in a good place. And, offer to take her back if whoever takes her changes their minds at any time.
